Christen Cowgill, residing in Destin with her family, and also the Director of Events at Grand Boulevard in Miramar Beach, recently became the Emerald Coast Children’s Advocacy Center’s (ECCAC) newest board member.
Wearing numerous hats, Cowgill is a passionate and driven woman. In her Grand Boulevard position, she has had the opportunity to support major community events such as South Walton Beaches Wine and Food Festival and the 30A Songwriter’s event with area non-profit organizations. She and her husband, Graeme, also stay busy raising their three children, aged 8 and 5-year old twins.
As well, in her personal life, Cowgill is Co-leader of Shoreline Church’s Sisterhood, and she works with people doing coaching and consulting to help them grow, learn and reach their goals. She is an active member of Business Empowered and the Florida Public Relations Association.
“My passion is people,” commented Cowgill. “What ECCAC does matters, and they change young lives in a positive direction. I would like to support ECCAC’s events committee to assist with fund raising, definitely an important element to their success in helping children.”
ECCAC CEO Julie Porterfield said, “On behalf of ECCAC and our board, we welcome Christen to our board, especially with her all-around experience and passion dealing with people and life in general. She will certainly be an asset to our efforts and the children we serve.”
ECCAC provides services in a child-friendly environment to help identify, treat and support children in abusive situations. The non-profit organization helps prevent child abuse through education, protects child victims from future abuse, and provides resources to restore the lives of the impacted child and the child’s family. The non-profit serves Okaloosa and Walton counties with two centers that house representatives from the Florida Department of Children and Families, Child Protection Team, State Attorney’s Office, local law enforcement, licensed mental health counselors, and ECCAC’s staff and volunteers. Over the past 20+ years, ECCAC has provided more than 170,000 services at no cost to over 15,000 children.
