The Honey Hutch partners with 30A to create 30A Honey  Miramar Beach, Fla. (September 10, 2015) Third generation beekeeper, Amy Wright of The Honey Hutch has partnered with 30A to produce 30A Honey. Born and raised in Destin, Florida, Wright’s love for beekeeping was learned early on through her grandfather, Hamilton Harper.  While Wright’s beekeeping career began in 1996 on Christmas day after receiving seven hives from Harper, her family has over 60 years of beekeeping spanning generations. Through an innate love for the outdoors, Wright developed a fascination with bees, hives and honey during her college years at Appalachian State University, a campus that was nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. “I really started getting interested in beekeeping in college. While I was at Appalachian state, I fell in love with nature more than ever before. I would go backpacking every chance I could, and when I traveled home I looked forward to working with my dad and granddaddy in the garden and beekeeping. It was definitely in college that I found my green thumb and love for beekeeping.” Following graduation and a stent of global travel, Wright returned home to Destin, Florida to begin her full-time focus on beekeeping. In addition to the 500 gallons of honey produced a year by Wright’s 70 hives, she also markets lip balm and soap made from beeswax and other natural ingredients like lavender, oranges, lemons and, of course, honey. This summer, Amy Wright and The 30A Company partnered to launch the new 30A Honey line, which features a blend of honey from local wildflowers, packaged with an artful design incorporating the iconic 30A logo, and All Natural 30A Soap, made with only the highest quality essential oils, so they’re calming, moisturizing, and wonderful for all skin types. The partnership was an obvious fit for the two locally owned and operated companies. “30A Honey by The Honey Hutch is really the perfect local gift or souvenir,” said Mike Ragsdale, The 30A Company owner and entrepreneur. “It’s created by our local bees from local flowers, it’s harvested by a local on local land, and then it’s carefully packaged by locals, without any additives. 30A Honey is as close to the source as it gets, and that’s why we’re so proud to have the 30A brand associated with it.” “We have a lot of employees”, Wright joked, with about 25,000 bees working year round to build and maintain their intricate honeycomb. All of the 30A Honey line of products is available for purchase on http://www.30agear.com/ and https://www.thehoneyhutch.com/. 30a honey
