FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Mosaic Glass Artist Mary Hong Announces Holiday Art Workshops
GRAYTON BEACH, Fla.–Nov. 7, 2013– Mosaic Artist Mary Hong announces her “Glass Meets
Canvas/Board” holiday workshops, Nov. 14 & 15 and Dec. 5 & 6. In these classes, Mary will
guide participants in making holiday-themed glass art, including angels and Christmas trees.
The class requires no previous mosaic art experience and is well suited for all skill levels. The
workshop includes a brief lesson on composition, how to use glass cutting tools, and teaches
participants to design and create an original glass artwork on a 12″x12″ canvas or a painted
wooden board. The custom designed art is great for gift giving or holiday decor.
A professional artist for more than 20 years and a glass artist for the past 13, Mary Hong was
recently named the 2014 Artist of the Year by Visit South Walton.
Mary has developed a non-traditional mosaic technique that allows the glass to stand rigidly on edge so that light can pass
through it, reflecting colors and textures onto the surface. She uses mostly recycled glass,
ranging from wine bottles and lamps to dinnerware, to create her art.
Class participants are
provided a variety of recycled materials, including glass, shells and trinkets, to create their art
and are invited to bring in special items of their own to make the artwork even more personal.
Classes will be held Nov. 14 & 15 and Dec. 5 & 6 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Bayou Arts Center,
located at 105 Hogtown Bayou Lane in Santa Rosa Beach. Cost is $75 for CAA members and $85
for not-yet members and all supplies are included. Class size is limited.
To register contact the
CAA at 850-622-5970 or email Lee@CulturalArtsAlliance.com.
