Construction Begins for Montecito 10 Movie Theatre in
Grand Boulevard at Sandestin
State-of-the-art 10 screen movie theatre to open in spring 2013
Miramar Beach, Fla., (June 25, 2012) – Construction has officially begun on the state-of-the-art Montecito 10, a Carmike Cinemas entertainment complex located in Grand Boulevard at Sandestin. The $10 million, 40,000 square foot movie theatre will have a total of 1,800 seats and is expected to open around Spring Break 2013.
Grand Boulevard at Sandestin, the mixed-use Town Center located at the entrance to Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort® and Carmike Cinemas, Inc. (NASDAQ: CKEC), a leading DIGITAL cinema and 3D motion picture exhibitor, announced the project last August.
The new location will be highlighted by a state-of-the-art “BIGD” auditorium and a VIP dining Ovation Club; both are Carmike’s critically acclaimed signature theatre amenities.
A first in Florida and expected to be a huge draw for area moviegoers will be the “BIGD” Ultimate Entertainment Experience, which features unmatched theatre amenities showcasing a wall-to-wall screen measuring over 60 feet wide and three stories tall, boosted by the latest in 7.1 surround sound and Digital projection for both 2D and 3D features. In technical terms, Carmike’s “BIGD” DIGITAL Experience is powered by a cutting-edge Christie Brilliant 3-D flash projector. Images will be projected onto a colossal wall-to-wall, ceiling-to-floor screen. The end result is a light output of 30,000 lumens, creating a picture quality with noticeably higher resolution than HD.
Theatre-goers will enjoy this “next level of cinematic experience” from the comfort of plush leather high-back rocking seats placed for optimal viewing in a stadium seating configuration.
The Ovation Club offers a more intimate movie going experience with lush leather seating, swing around tables, a wall-to-wall screen, made-to-order premium and beverages. Beer and wine will be served in the Ovation Club pending the approval of local authorities.
Commenting on the start of construction of its Montecito 10, Carmike President and CEO David Passman stated, “We’re providing the ultimate entertainment experience that centerpieces large format DIGITAL with bigger screens, bigger sound, and luxurious theatre seating for cutting-edge presentation and the definitive enjoyment of our audiences. With the opening of our new location Sandestin and Walton County will join a select and growing list of communities across the nation offering Carmike theatregoers the exciting new “BIGD” format.”
Grand Boulevard at Sandestin provides Carmike’s future theatre location with a strategic high-traffic retail center renowned for its premier shopping and dining experience and a beautifully landscaped environment where patrons can enjoy leisurely walks to the theatre. There are nationally known shops and restaurants located in the Town Center atmosphere and Grand Boulevard is also convenient to the beaches of South Walton along Northwest Florida’s Gulf Coast.
“With construction now underway, everyone is so excited that the new theatre will be a reality soon. It’s a very positive time for our Town Center and our community as a whole.” said Stacey Brady, spokesperson for Grand Boulevard.
“Whether it’s a movie, concert, sporting event, motivational speaker or church service, Carmike guests will find the new Montecito 10 featuring our unique “BIGD” and Ovation Club auditoriums unmatched as a venue to enjoy their favorite entertainment events,” added Terrell Mayton, Carmike’s Director of Marketing.
