Whodini Sisters Bloody Mary Mix featured on Martha Stewart Living

While working as a food writer on 30A in Florida tasting Bloody Mary’s became a part of the job. My Dad was a Bloody Mary expert so I found myself searching for the perfect concoction. Being a purist, I like my Bloody Mary to taste like a cocktail not a cocktail sauce. I decided to create a seasoning that matched my expectations. The key to the unsurpassed flavor is that the tomato juice is not added until just before serving. This allows the various spices and flavors to remain distinct and savored. It also allows the mixologist to decide which tomato juice to choose. Olive Oil shops across the USA have discoverd that Whodini Sisters becomes an excellent marinade when paired with a variety of olive oils. My personal favorite is Tuscan Herb olive oil & Whodini as a marinade for grilled grouper. Chef Linton of Holman and Finch uses Whodini for a compound butter for steaks! Tell us about your workspace, shop, or studio.

My office is located in the tower of my Seaside Florida Home. I have a view of the Gulf of Mexico that inspires me by day and moonlight bouncing off of our tin roof keeping me going at night. Our product is bottled onsight at an orchard in Tiger, Georgia. The fields consist of a patchwork of vegtables, fruits and flowers just miles from the Georgia Mountains.

What inspires you?

I write an article for The Seaside Times featuring various vendors at the Seaside Farmers Market. Their stories, hard work and dedication to their produce is amazing. They inspire me to produce the absolute best product available. I am also inspired by new ideas and love to discuss ideas with others.

What makes your business stand out?

We are a gluten- free, all- natural seasoning. Due to our high citrus count the FDA does not require an expiration date. This is of great value to the small shop owner. We do not warehouse our product so each batch is made and bottled just before shipment. Once a customer has tried Whodini they seldomly go back to their old mix or marinade. We have expanded across the USA mainly through word of mouth. Whodini Sisters was founded by and continues to be an all female company. Our bottle is awesome and displays very nicely in restaurants, gourmet shops, clothing stores, hardware stores and best of all your kitchen table.

What advice would you give an aspiring creative entrepreneur?

Follow your idea and ignore the naysayers. Be willing to work hard but still enjoy what you do each day. Bring joy to your work and it will show in your product. Take a cold shower every morning, listen to the advice of those who have come before you and accept the help of friends.

What does American Made mean to you?

The farm to table movement is very visible here in the panhandle of Florida. Most of the produce and seafood is not just American Made but Community made and caught. I feel this is an important way to create friendships as well as jobs in our towns. American Made means supporting your neighbor as well as our country. It means knowing where your food and products are coming from and having a deep appreciation for those who provide it
