A new state-of-the-art veterinary hospital is coming to Walton County, bringing advanced animal care much closer to home. The 15,000+ square foot facility, developed by Capital Veterinary Specialists and led by Dr. Kevin Drygas, DVM, recently broke ground and is expected to open in 2027.
While initially referenced as serving the Santa Rosa Beach area, the project is strategically located along the growing medical corridor on Highway 331 in Freeport, making it easily accessible for both South and North Walton residents.
Once completed, the hospital will offer high-level specialty services including CT and MRI imaging, oncology, emergency care, and complex surgical procedures—capabilities that are currently unavailable within roughly 300 miles.
The addition of this facility addresses a major gap in the region, where pet owners have historically been forced to travel long distances for critical care. Positioned along the 331 corridor, the hospital is expected to become a central hub for veterinary services across the Emerald Coast, including Freeport, Santa Rosa Beach, and DeFuniak Springs.
