Second location of popular Shades Bar & Grill opening in late summer 2026
MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla. Spell Restaurant Group is set to open a second Shades Bar & Grill at Grand Boulevard in Miramar Beach, Florida, in late summer 2026. The sports bar will occupy a space located at 8670 US Highway 98 at the western-most entrance to Grand Boulevard.

Shades’ flagship, which celebrated its 30th anniversary last year, is located in Inlet Beach, Florida. With a chef-driven menu, 34 draft beers and 28 screens, it’s a favorite for locals and visitors alike who want to enjoy a delicious meal, grab a beer or watch a sporting event. The Grand Boulevard location grows Spell Restaurant Group’s portfolio to 10 restaurants – seven in Florida and three in Memphis, Tennessee. With consistent year-round business thanks to Shades’ reputation as a “Cheers” of sorts for many, opening a second restaurant made sense.
“When Howard Group representatives approached us about bringing Shades to their Grand Boulevard development, we knew we had to jump on it,” Christy Spell Terry, co-owner of Spell Restaurant Group said. “With all the success we’ve experienced in Inlet Beach, the decision to open a second location here off Highway 98 was a no-brainer. Grand Boulevard draws locals and tourists alike, which aligns with what we see at Shades’ flagship location. We want this restaurant to be a place residents and vacationing families love to visit.”
Spell Restaurant Group is planning an extensive renovation for the 4,800-square-foot space led by DAG Architects, The Willingham Company for kitchen design and Z Space Design Inc. for interior design. When complete, Shades at Grand Boulevard will seat 264, feature a small patio, and boast more than a dozen beer taps and ample TVs for sports viewing.
“Spell Restaurant Group operates some of the most popular restaurants along 30A,” Dana Hahn, Executive Vice President Real Estate of Howard Group, said. “Grand Boulevard and the surrounding Miramar Beach neighborhood has anxiously been awaiting a first-class sports bar experience, which SRG will surely deliver. Shades at Grand Boulevard is the perfect complement to our successful restaurant offerings.”
While guests flock to Shades for craft beer and sports viewing, it offers so much more than that. The beloved spot hosts events like crawfish festivals, summer kickoff parties, Halloween costume contests and trivia nights. Shades’ laidback atmosphere makes it a great spot for families, leading to its inclusion in Yelp’s 2025 list of the Top 100 Family Friendly Restaurants in the U.S.
