The Florida Division of Emergency Management, in conjunction with the National Weather Service, has issued a hard freeze warning for January 23
rd. The affected areas include Walton County. The warning will be in effect from midnight to 9:00am tomorrow morning. A hard freeze warning means sub-freezing temperatures are imminent or highly likely. These conditions will also kill crops and other sensitive vegetation.
Due to this warning, two Walton County cold weather shelters will once again be open to accommodate those in need of respite from the predicted cold weather. The shelters will be open beginning at 6:00pm this evening.
