Walton County District 2 Commissioner Danny Glidewell recommended that the Walton County Board of County Commissioners designate a local street as “Charlie Kirk Parkway.”
“Recently, we lost a wonderful American, Mr. Charlie Kirk, who had a great influence on a lot of people. His murder was a shock to all of us, and I was asked to present this – to create a ‘Charlie Kirk Parkway’ in Walton County,” said Commissioner Glidewell.
Glidewell stated that after researching the issue, he felt any chosen highway should not adversely affect residents’ street addressing.
“I have identified a road that we could name after Mr. Kirk without impacting people’s addresses,” said Glidewell. “That’s Highway 393 North. So, I would make a motion that we designate Highway 393 North as ‘Charlie Kirk Parkway’ and leaving the addressing as 393.”
Commission Chair Donna Johns reminded everyone that this occurred on what would have been Charlie Kirk’s birthday and thanked Commissioner Glidewell for bringing the recommendation.
An audience member also thanked the Commissioners, noting that Kirk had just received the Presidential Medal of Freedom posthumously that same day.
