Ohana Day School, a branch of the Ohana Institute educational system for children ages 3 to 5 years, recently hosted an Open House at its secondary location in Grand Boulevard Town Center to welcome families and celebrate the beginning of the 2025–2026 school year.

Miramar Beach, Fla. Families were invited to explore the “Ohana way,” while enjoying local vendors like Anthea Le Jardin’s Jewelry Pop-Up, Coastal Coffee Bar Co., and Kinems’ interactive learning platform. Ohana Day School will host another Open House for prospective students and parents on Thursday, September 25, from 2:30 to 5:00 p.m. at the Grand Boulevard location. The Open House offers the community a chance to discover Ohana Day School and be part of the Spring 2026 Semester Lottery.

“Ohana is a beautiful place to learn,” said Lettye Burgtorf, Ohana Institute and Ohana Day School co-founder. “It helps transform education for students so they can truly find their passions, the things that they do, and really have a personalized learning path for each student.”

The mission of Ohana Day School is to respect the individual needs of all children, foster a caring and creative environment, and use innovative technology to deliver an experiential, student-centered blended education model. Ohana Day School believes that the paths of learning include social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development, which invites the passionate pursuits of each child’s interests. Ohana Day School’s vision is to ensure each child has successful experiences every day, give them a positive self-concept, and ensure a lifelong love of learning. Young children learn through play and direct involvement, and Ohana Day School is designed to meet each child’s physical, social, emotional, and cognitive needs.

At the core of Ohana Day School’s philosophy is the “SHELL Model,” developed along Florida’s Gulf Coast, which serves as the foundation of all operations and practices: Safety and Security. Holistic Education. Experiential. Loving Yourself. Loving Others.

“Every year is something different and exciting for our students,” Burgtorf added. “It really helps them be great people because our core values drive our learning. And when they leave school, they really know who they are and what they want to do.”
