The Mystic Krewe of Salty Barkers is hosting Mardi Gras Apalach-style with two days of exciting fun, including the 14th Annual Mardi Gras Pet Parade. The celebration on February 21-22, 2025, in Apalachicola, FL, is dedicated to dogs and their people. This year’s theme, “Game of Bones – the Canine Kingdom Rules,” invites guests to enter a world of canines and castles, with costumes inspired by noble houses, knights, dragons, and mystical creatures. @everyone
Friday, February 21 kicks off the festivities with the Fido-Do street event from 2-8 PM ET. Highlights include street entertainment, live music, an adopters reunion, costume contests, dragon relay races, a beer and wine garden with local brews, and a live auction.
Saturday, February 22 continues at Riverfront Park from 11 AM-4 PM ET, featuring live music, street performers, 40+ vendors, and the iconic parade starting at 1 PM. The parade showcases decorated golf carts, boats, floats, and walkers—both two-legged and four-legged. Festival and parade are free to watch. To be in the parade, fees are $5 for walkers, $25 for golf carts, and $50 for floats, and dogs are free.
More than just fun, the event supports local animal rescues, raising funds and awareness for animals in need. Shelter animals serve as the parade’s King and Queen, highlighting adoption opportunities.
