BECASA, located in 30Avenue, will host a gallery night with Atlanta-based artist, Brynn Casey, on Thursday, July 8 from 5-8 p.m. The newly opened retail space will host Casey’s curated 30A collection, inspired by the natural beauty of the Emerald Coast and her personal experiences vacationing on 30A.
Casey is a Georgia-based artist that fell in love with creating at an early age. She always knew that she wanted to be an artist, so she pursued that dream by attending the University of Georgia for her degree in art. While at school, she learned the discipline it takes to be a serious artist, the confidence it takes to accept criticism, and the bravery it takes to try new things.
“I am greatly inspired by artists who create brave artwork,” Casey said. “You can just tell in the strokes of paint and colors that they use if they are ‘playing it safe’ or if they are ‘going for it.’ When I see them ‘go for it’, it reminds me that it’s okay for me to, too.”
Casey’s career began as a student as she began to explore her love for the ocean landscape in all its forms.
“My biggest inspiration would obviously be nature – specifically the subject of water,” Casey said. “I have a never-ending fascination with the symbolism of the water, including the constant ebbing and flowing of the tides, the way it can be calm one second and powerful the next, and the way it reflects color and light.”
The community is invited to BECASA 30A, located at 12508 Hwy. 98, from 5-8 p.m. to meet Casey and view her latest collection of works inspired by 30A. There will be craft cocktails by Better Together Beverage, wine provided by Good Clean Wine, crudité and charcuterie from CC Boone, sushi from Shaka Sushi and Noodle Bar, and live music by Nashville singer songwriter, Sarah Anne Davidson. Local designers and serious buyers are invited to the store at 4:30 p.m. for a champagne toast and “First Dibs” to view the collection and purchase a unique piece as this collection is one of its kind.
“Brynn’s ability to communicate the gravity and beauty of the Gulf of Mexico through tonal brushstrokes is rather rare in landscape painting,” said Emily Raffield, owner of BECASA. “I believe her work is important and will live on for generations in families — as we can all appreciate standing at the shoreline. Everyone appreciates Brynn’s work in their own way, filtered by memories at the beach.”
Casey has also curated a collection of goods in collaboration with BECASA which includes a handful of her favorite garments, accessories and home goods. Guests can shop the artist’s hand-picked choices on gallery night while simultaneously perusing her work.
“This is the first time I’ll be offering works at this size in a body of work,” Casey said. “Additionally, showing my work at a location such as BECASA on 30A has been a true career goal of mine since 2015, so this is a dream come true collection!”
Pieces from the new collection will range in smaller sizes from 24×24″, 24×36″, and 36×36” and for the first time, Casey will offer pieces as large as 48×48″, 40×60″, and 36×72”. Usually, her larger pieces are reserved for private, commissioned works so this is a unique opportunity to purchase a larger piece of hers never offered before. Prices will range from $1,500-$5,000 and will be available for purchase at BECASA from the opening on July 8, 2021 through August 22, 2021.
