THEATRE COMPANY CONTINUES  8th ANNUAL SEASON WITH FOUR DIFFERENT PRODUCTIONS

Emerald Coast Theatre Company (ECTC) continues its eighth annual season on the Northwest Florida Gulf Coast in October with four distinctly different productions that offer something for all ages.

‘First Date,’ the First Mainstage Production of the Season, Oct. 9-25

Cabaret on the Boulevard, Oct. 13

Cabaret on the Boolevard, Oct. 20

‘Dot and Ziggy,’ Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) Show, Oct. 23, 24 & 30, 31

Fall in love with live theater all over again.

In accordance with CDC guidelines, all offerings will be performed in ECTC’s performance space located at 560 Grand Boulevard, in Grand Boulevard at #Sandestin in #Miramar #Beach.

How apt that the first offering of the season on ECTC’s Professional Theatre Mainstage is First Date. The book for this musical comedy is by Austin Winsberg with music and lyrics by Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner. A new musical, First Date debuted at Seattle’s ACT Theatre before going to Broadway in 2013.

Inspired largely by personal experiences, the story begins when blind date newbie Aaron (Adam Silorey) is set up with serial-dater Casey (Brooke Myers), a casual drink at the busy New York restaurant turns into a hilarious high-stakes dinner. Can this couple turn what could be a dating disaster into something special before the check arrives?

“Everyone needs a laugh these days and this musical comedy is sure to provide it,” says ECTC co-founder and producing artistic director Nathanael Fisher. “If you have ever dated or even thought about dating, this is the musical for you.”

Adam Silorey (Dancing Lessons, Around the World in 80 Days, The Fantasticks, Buyer & Cellar) returns to ECTC’s stage from Chicago. Brooke Meyers of Kansas City, Missouri, makes her ECTC debut. Regional credits include (Linda Mason) Holiday Inn, (Lori Beth) Happy Days, (Jovie) Elf and (Janet Weiss) The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

First date is directed by Nathanael Fisher; set and lighting design is by Rebeca Lake with costume and prop design by ECTC co-founder and Associate Artistic & Education Director Anna Fisher; specialty costumes designed by J.P. Riddle. Sound design and stage managment is by Phillip Padgett with assistance from Madison McCall. Music direction is by Vincent Pelligrino.

Tickets for musicals are $36 per person for adults; $34 for seniors (55 years old and up) and military and $30 for students (must show ID).

Professional Theatre Second Stage is a new ECTC offering this year. As the name suggests, ECTC’s Second Stage, is an additional, intimate performance space located separately from the Mainstage that will showcase musical cabaret acts, as well as small bands, solo musicians and performing artists.

Save the date for Cabaret on the Boulevard. On Tuesday, Oct. 13 come mix, mingle, and enjoy live musical selections performed by talented members of the First Date cast.

The Oct. 20 Cabaret on the Boolevard will feature spine-chilling selections from “spooky” Broadway shows such as Wicked, The Addams Family, Beetlejuice and others.

Showtime is 7:30 p.m.

Tickets to Cabaret on the Boulevard revues are $22 for adults; $20 for seniors/military; $18 students.

Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) is ECTC’s series that showcases professional adult actors performing select theater pieces designed to engage young audiences. The second offering of the season in the TYA series is DoT and Ziggy, a play by Linda Hartzell and Mark Perry.

The cast features ECTC Junior Company members Clara Taylor (Dot), Sasha Blair (Ziggy), Rylan Shaffer (Spider).

Spend a fun interactive morning with our delightful skunk and ladybug duo. Children in the audience get to experience this hands-on show with all of their senses as they become part of the story. This colorful play creatively utilizes music, dance, movement and touchable props to envelop our young audience members and inspire their imaginations.

“We are so excited that these ECTC Jr. Company students have this opportunity to expand their theatrical horizons and that our audience has this opportunity to enjoy this high level of talent in our Jr. Company program,” said ECTC Associate Artistic & Education director Anna Fisher.

Performance dates are Oct. 23, 24, 30 and 31 at 9 a.m. This production is intended for children ages 6 months to 5 years.

Tickets to Dot and Ziggy are $18 for adults; $16 for seniors/military; $12 for children 4 to 12; children ages 0-3 are free and must sit on an adult’s lap.

Proceeds benefit ECTC and its Theatre Education programs.
