Seaside Institute to Host Three-Day Symposium
“Transforming Communities Through New Urbanism”
The Seaside Institute will host a three-day symposium from Saturday, September 14 through Monday, September 16, 2019. Titled, “Transforming Communities Through New Urbanism,” speakers from around the world will be in attendance to address the key factors, challenges and solutions in transforming communities for long-term success.
Each day of the symposium, speakers will focus on a distinctive component of transformation while also giving those in attendance the opportunity to network with other industry professionals working toward the same goal. The three days will also be comprised of walking tours of Seaside, a book signing, and various opportunities to interact with the speakers in either a round-table or deep-dive discussion at the end of each day.
Speakers confirmed to attend include: Mikael Colville-Andersen, CEO of Copenhagenize Design Company; Victor Dover, Principal Lead of Dover, Kohl & Partners; Rick Hall, Hall Planning & Engineering; Lebron Lackey, Mexico Beach Homeowner; John Lettieri, CEO of Economic Innovation Group; Mike Lydon, Principal of Street Plans Collaborative & Seaside Prize Fellow 2017; Jason Roberts, Executive Director of Better Blocks; Joseph P. Riley, Jr., Former Mayor of Charleston, SC, The Citadel; John Robert Smith, Former Mayor of Meridian, MS, President and CEO of Reconnecting America; Ryan Streeter, Director of Domestic Policy Studies at the American Enterprise Institute; and Quint Studer, CEO of the Studer Group.
