30A TV telethon for ECCAC a victory for the kids

Seagrove Beach, FL (December 9, 2016)…30A TV aired the 2nd Annual Emerald Coast Children’s Advocacy Center (ECCAC) Telethon broadcasting live last week from 723 Whiskey Bravo in Seagrove Beach. The telethon benefited the two ECCAC locations in Niceville and the Pierce Family Children’s Advocacy Center in DeFuniak Springs.Singer and local celeb David Seering hosted the telethon. He was particularly moved interviewing young Isabella Rose who had a life altering experience when she was 7 and her family turned to ECCAC for help. Isabella is now a vibrant 13 year-old who touts her positive and helpful experience with ECCAC. She’s quite the singer, too. In fact, David asked her to sing on-air at the telethon which she very capably did. He also asked her to sing a song with him at ECCAC’s upcoming March 11 annual signature fund raising gala and she agreed.
Isabella commented, “I want to bring awareness and let people know I am in a good place with my past because of what ECCAC did for me and my family.”
“It’s children like Isabella who shine a light in our hearts, it is why we do what we do,” said ECCAC CEO Julie Hurst. “To see how far she has come reinforces the work of our therapists, law enforcement and others that help to make a difference in the lives of children who have experienced a challenging time in their lives. abuse. Our thanks go to all the telethon viewers and their donations to support the Center and our kids.”
With the purpose of creating awareness and raising funds for ECCAC, the telethon featured interviews with locals, entertainment, information, and how viewers can make a difference. ECCAC’s board of directors were on hand answering phones and taking donations. In the spirit of giving, 723 Whiskey Bravo owners Skip and Victoria Moore donated $1,000 of the restaurant’s profits the day of the telethon for the cause. Breaking last year’s amount raised, the telethon night raised over $31,000, which included a generous donation by the Walton County Sheriff’s Department of $25,000.
Donations are still being accepted, the telethon will continue to be re-broadcast periodically through February and can be seen any time in its entirety on 30A TV’s website at this link: 30ATV ECCAC Fundraiser TELETHON Sponsors of the telethon were the Freeport Kiwanis, Silver Sands Premium Outlets, Julie Hurst, Emerald Coast Compounding Pharmacy and Insurance Zone. ECCAC’s mission is to prevent child abuse and neglect, protect children in Okaloosa and Walton Counties, and restore the lives and futures of these impacted children. The Center’s child-friendly facilities house a multidisciplinary team of child protection personnel, prosecutors, law enforcement, DCF, therapists, and ECCAC staff and volunteers. In the past 15 years, over10,000 children have received more than 40,000 services to include mental health therapy, crisis intervention, referrals to other community providers, interviews and medicals.
