History Team Wins Big for Emerald Coast Middle School

Regional History Bee

Santa Rosa Beach, March 10, 2016:  Local students won big as the Emerald Coast Middle School History Team recently competed in the Regional Finals of the National History Bee in Birmingham, Alabama. Team members Beau Adams, Witt Kessler, Nick Lee, Rachel Mc Cann, Maddox Rhea, Dalton Robinson, Emma Sewell, Nick Sirmans, and Cooper Weakly competed in the Regional Finals representing the Stingrays of Walton County well. Nick Sirmans took first place overall and Witt Kessler, Maddox Rhea, Dalton Robinson, Nick Sirmans, and Cooper Weakly were among a small group of students who advanced to Nationals in Chicago. The team is sponsored and led by      Dr. Elizabeth Fairweather a fifth grade teacher at Emerald Coast Middle School located in Walton County. “It’s great to see the students’ passion for history ignited and turn into deep learning experiences that are recognized through this competition,” said Dr. Fairweather.
