SWFD Places 105′ Ladder Truck in Service

(Santa Rosa Beach) – After much anticipation, South Walton Fire District (SWFD) officially placed

the new 105’ Aerial Ladder Truck (Truck 4) in service. The purchase of the new apparatus is part of

the comprehensive vehicle replacement plan developed and adopted as a component of the Fire

District’s strategic planning process. Approved in the 2013-2014 budget, the aerial ladder replaces a

ladder truck that had served the fire district for over 15 years and was recently sold by the SWFD to

St. George Island Volunteer Fire Department.

O

This new state of the art ladder truck features a 105’ ladder, a 1,500 gallon per minute pump, 500

gallons of stored water capacity as well as a large cache of tools and ground ladders to be as

effective as possible at any incident. Truck 4 is also Advanced Life Support (ALS) certified and will

have at least one firefighter/paramedic on board to address emergency care when the need arises.

An official “Blessing of the Apparatus” will take place at the SWFD Fire Station # 4 located at 485

Mack Bayou Rd, Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459 on Wednesday April 22nd, 2015 at 9:30am.

The community is invited to attend and take a tour of this new apparatus.
