December ’63 to Perform Tribute to Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons,
Saturday, April 11 at 7 p.m.
DESTIN, FLA. — (March 2, 2015) Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation (MKAF) is walking down memory lane with the help of memorable music. In partnership with Ocean Reef Vacation Rentals & Real Estate, Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation continues a year-long celebration of its 20th anniversary with a rousing special performance by December ’63, a Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons tribute band.
The concert is set for Saturday, April 11 at 7 p.m. in the Dugas Pavilion located in the Mattie Kelly Cultural Arts Village, located at 4323 Commons Drive West in Destin.
The five-member band is named for Frankie Valli’s 1975 hit “December 1963 (Oh What a Night),” which topped the music charts at No. 3 in the US in 1975. December ’63 celebrates the indomitable spirit of the charismatic ‘60s crooner with the unmistakable falsetto voice with such memorable hits as “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Rag Doll,” “Walk Like a Man,” “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You,” “My Eyes Adored You” and more.
Frankie Valli, who came to fame in 1962 as the lead singer of the Four Seasons, is hotter than ever today, thanks to the volcanic success of the Tony-winning musical “Jersey Boys,” which chronicles the life and times of Frankie and his legendary group. As the play continues to sell-out each year on Broadway, and two touring companies of Jersey Boys travel around the country, the real Frankie Valli is still packing crowds into concert halls from coast to coast. December ’63’s toe-tapping tribute will leave no question why Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Bring a chair, blanket and picnic or purchase dinner prepared onsite from food trucks and local restaurants serving up delicious dinner menu options. Bring your own beverages or purchase water, soft drinks, beer and wine at the event.
“Frankie Valli is an iconic and enduring voice of his generation,” said Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation CEO Marcia Hull. “Presenting this tribute band is a fun and festive way for friends and families to come together to help us celebrate MKAF as an enduring voice for the local arts in our community.”
Presented by Ocean Reef Vacation Rentals and Real Estate, December ’63 will have audiences dancing and singing to the sensational sounds of the ‘60s. Tickets for this benefit concert are $25 for adults or $20 for MKAF members. Children (under 12) are free.
VIP event tables, seating six or eight, are perfect for entertaining friends, family and clients. Tables are available on a first-come, first-served basis by calling (850) 650- 2226. Proceeds from the event will benefit MKAF’s mission to support cultural events and education programs.
In recognition of the 20th anniversary, MKAF will introduce a new, full-day Bluegrass music concert, “Bluegrass at the Beach,” on September 12, 2015, presented by ResortQuest by Wyndham Vacations, featuring the award-winning and chart-topping band, Blue Highway. Tickets for Bluegrass at the Beach will be available online beginning May 1, 2015.
