More than 800 wines to taste, an expanded culinary village and celebrity winemakers will highlight the 2014 South Walton Beaches Wine and Food Festival on April 24 – 27. The event will be held in Grand Boulevard at Sandestin located in beautiful South Walton in Northwest Florida, home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
“I am inspired by our community and industry partners for their commitment to South Walton Beaches Wine and Food Festival and Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation. Thousands of patrons throughout the South will be treated to the best wine and food festival in our 28 year history,” Chan Cox, Festival Founder.
Last year, dozens of major wine celebrities attended the festival to meet the public and pour their wines. Among them, Peter Mondavi, Jr., Cesar Perrin of Beaucastel, KR Rombauer, Anthony Truchard II and Charles J. “Chuck” Wagner of Caymus wines. These and other wine celebrities are invited to return for the 2014 festival.
The Savor South Walton Culinary Village will return with even more delicious food offerings for attendees. The popular free tasting seminars will again take place throughout the Grand Tastings on Saturday and Sunday. The Wine World pavilion will expand to showcase and serve the perfect foods to pair with wines. South Walton restaurants will be on full display as they present the best of the region, including Gulf Coast seafood.
Proceeds from the festival benefit Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation to support children’s charities in Northwest Florida.
“On the fourth weekend of April, the center of the wine world moves from the international arena and California to Grand Boulevard and Walton County. And the most amazing attribute of the whole weekend is that it benefits the children of Northwest Florida,” said John Russell, President of Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation.
The Destin Charity Wine Auction takes place during the festival and has been named a “Top 10 Charity Wine Auction” by Wine Spectator magazine. Last year’s auction raised a record-breaking $1.3 million dollars to support their mission. The auction is a separate ticketed event. Go to www.DCWAF.org for more information.
Once again, Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association (FRLA) will bring Nashville’s top songwriters to the South Walton Beaches Wine & Food Festival. As a continuation of their Endless Summer Songwriters Series, these songwriters will perform and tell stories about their biggest hits written for the stars of the music business, including Rascal Flatts, Faith Hill, Vince Gill and many others.
Festival founding partners include Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation, Visit South Walton Tourist Development Council, Florida Restaurant & Lodging Association, Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa, Wine World of Northwest Florida and Grand Boulevard at Sandestin®.
