Eclectic Handmade Jewelry Store, bluCALYPSO, Opens in the Village of Baytowne Wharf
Miramar Beach, FL – December 20, 2013; Marianna Zuech, Merchant Manager of the Village of Baytowne Wharf, announced the debut of a new shopping destination for eclectic handmade jewelry. Mayra Casillas, designer, artisan and owner of bluCALYPSO, offers brand new jewelry collections in precious metals and gemstones in a wide range of styles and prices.
The name bluCALYPSO is a combination of Mayra’s love of water and the beautiful emerald green/blue waters of Destin, Florida. Calypso is derived from Greek mythology and refers to a woman or nymph that inhabits an island. Therefore, the name bluCALYPSO invokes the image of a beautiful woman living near emerald colored waters. bluCALYPSO’s comfortable and contemporary interior design merges warm Americana with an exotic opulence; a direct reflection of the custom pieces that Mayra creates.
“I want any woman of any age to be able to come into my store and find something beautiful for themselves,” Casillas says. “bluCALYPSO has a wide collection of very captivating designs. Having a retail space gives me room to also bring in other artists that create unique items that cannot be found anywhere in this area.”
Mayra grew up in her mother’s small town Texas boutique, so going to market and running a store is as natural as breathing for her. Travelling extensively and living in New York City, she pulled her experiences and creativity together and started a wholesale business in Soho over five years ago. This fueled her desire to open her own store and follow in the footsteps of her mother.
bluCALYPSO’s hours of operation are Monday – Saturday from 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM, and Sunday from 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM. The store is located at 105 Cannery Lane. Be sure and check out bluCALYPSO on Facebook at
