Based on the story about trolleys in Panama City, can a trolley work on 30a ? It appears that costs to run and ride may find it more difficult than at first glance..
Trolley Rate Increase Difficult on Riders
Panama City — Beginning March 1st, the 31 day monthly pass will raise from $30 to $40. Daily passes will go from $3 to $5. The single ride price of $1.50 for traditional riders and .75 cents for the disabled, students, and senior citizens will remain in place.
According to Gene Keen of Bay Town Trolley the rate raises are because of higher costs. "You have a greater need for out services when the economy is worse. So we have more people that need us now, but we have less money. They are tightening budgets on every level," said Keen.
Bay Town Trolley officials say transportation fares are considerably less in Panama City than other similar sized cities. There are plans to gradually increase rates until they are on par with other cities prices.
