AMERICA’S FAVORITE SOFTBALL TEAM SWINGS INTO NORTHWEST FLORIDA The Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team Inspires – While Crushing the Competition! Destin, Fla. (October 15, 2012) – Morgan Sports Center in Destin, Florida, will be the scene of an amazing display of elite athleticism, raw courage and unshakeable determination on Saturday, November 3rd, 2012. That’s when the Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team comes to town and shows us all how it’s done! The double header starts at 2:00 p.m. featuring a match-up against players from the host sponsor, InDyne, followed by a 5:00 p.m. game against military service members from Eglin AFB, Hurlburt Field and the 7th Special Forces. Both games are free and open to the public. The Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team represents some of our nation’s bravest and most resilient heroes, soldiers and veterans. Through the use of prosthetics, extensive rehabilitation and disciplined training, these warriors have not only overcome severe injuries sustained while serving in the military/war to defend our country, but excel as competitive athletes. The team’s mission is to raise awareness – through exhibition softball games – of the sacrifices and perseverance of our military and highlight the ability to rise above any challenge. They inspire not only civilians with their determination and relentless effort, but also fellow soldiers who may be facing their own challenges in overcoming disabilities. Opening ceremonies for the games will include a Patriot Guard Riders escort for the team onto Morgan Field, an Honor Guard comprised of all branches of the military posting the colors, a military fly-over and the Niceville Chorus singing the National Anthem. Vendors will be set up around the field for spectators to purchase drinks and food. The games are a great opportunity for local residents of all ages to come out and witness what can be accomplished with an iron will to overcome any obstacle. As the great Babe Ruth said, “You just can’t beat the person who never gives up.” The Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Games Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Morgan Sports Center, 4200 Indian Bayou Trail, Destin, Florida Double Header – 2:00 p.m. & 5:00 p.m. – Both Games are FREE and Open to the Public Sponsorship opportunities are still available for this event.
