Recycling is now more available in Walton County  Walton County Solid Waste Department has announced the latest additions to the county’s Recycling Trailer locations.   New trailers are now available at:  Black Creek Community Store – 25 McDaniel’s Fish Camp Road Emerald Coast Middle School – 6694 W County Highway 30A Portland Community Center – 88 Site C-6 Road King Lake Fire Department – 3910 Kings Lake Road Walton Vo-Tech School – N 20th Street, DeFuniak Springs District 4 Commissioner Office – 417 Highway 20, Freeport Walton High School – Walton Road Muscogee Nation Tribal Office – 278 Church Road, Bruce Rosemary Beach – Southeast corner of Winston Lane and US Highway 98 South Walton High School – 645 Greenway Trail, Santa Rosa Beach  Recyclable materials that can be placed in blue recycling trailers include:  Cans – aluminum, tin, and steel such as fruit, vegetable, and dog food cans  Glass – bottles and jars without lids, not plate glass  Paper – newspaper, phone books, paperback books and magazines except for glossy pages  Plastics: No. 1 & No. 2 (located on the containers, usually the bottom and in a triangle consisting of three chasing arrows)
  • No. 1, examples: soda and water bottles, medicine containers, clear plastic containers.
  • No. 2, examples: milk jugs, coffee, detergent and bleach containers, shampoo bottles, etc. (any color)
 Materials not listed above cannot be recycled by the county landfill.  Users are reminded to please empty and clean all bottles and cans and remove any lids.  The lids are not recyclable.  A map showing the location of all recycling trailers in Walton County can be found on the county website at www.co.walton.fl.us.
