(Santa Rosa Beach) – The South Walton Fire District (SWFD) was again assembled at the Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa, only this time there was no sense of urgency. The Hilton was hosting an appreciation luncheon for the SWFD and neighboring fire departments that assisted with the fire at the resort in the early morning hours of October 3rd.
“We are very honored by the generosity of the Hilton management and staff for hosting a luncheon to say thanks for our recent efforts during the fire. SWFD crews and our neighboring departments that assisted that night performed superbly. While that level of performance is expected by both the SWFD and the members of the community we serve, this fire stands as a testament to the men and women of the SWFD for their level of commitment and professionalism in meeting that high standard of service, day in and day out”, said Rick Talbert, Fire Chief.
“The SWFD would like to thank the Hilton staff first for all their assistance during the emergency. It was readily apparent that the Hilton staff was trained and had practiced how to deal with emergencies on the resort. They provided invaluable assistance to our efforts in fighting the fire. Secondly, we would like to thank them for this gracious gesture by hosting this luncheon to recognize the efforts of our firefighters”, said Talbert.
