Cold Weather Shelter to Open in Walton County

Walton County Emergency Management has activated the Cold Weather Emergency Shelter Plan for Walton County this evening Tuesday, November 12, 2019. In accordance with this plan, the Matrix Community Center will be coordinating all staffing and resource requirements for the official Walton County cold weather emergency shelter. This shelter will open beginning at 5:30p.m and will close at 7:00a.m. the following morning. DeFuniak Springs Community Center 361 North 10th Street DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32433 The National Weather Service predicts a temperature of below 40°F in Walton County. Freezing temperatures are possible late tonight through tomorrow morning, Wednesday, November 12, 2019. Walton County Emergency Management will continue to monitor weather developments and make additional announcements as necessary.
