Operation Smile event raises $3,813
Destin, FL (June 5, 2012)… As part of its local “Celebration of Smiles” event on April 21, Destin-based photographers, Pure 7 Studios helped change the lives, and smiles, of more than a dozen children. “We were so overwhelmed with the positive response of all that came out to be photographed, as well as those who privately donated and volunteered,” said Pure 7 Studios co-owner Erica Manthey. “Our goal was to raise enough to cover the expenses of ten complete cleft lip and palate surgeries, and we ended up raising enough for almost sixteen.”
Shooting from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., the team at Pure 7 Studios photographed 111 people and four bulldogs, raising a total of $3,813, benefitting Operation Smile. “Seeing people come out to support children in need for Operation Smile was a beautiful experience,” said Lindsey Bray, associate photographer and studio manager at Pure 7 Studios.
Founded in 1982, Operation Smile is a worldwide children’s medical charity dedicated to helping children and young adults born with facial deformities. According to World Health Organization statistics, cleft lips/ palates occur in approximately one out of every 600 to 700 births.
Complimentary food, wine, and dessert was graciously provided by Marlin Grill, Jim N’ Nicks, and Sweet for Sirten and floral and linen rentals by Florals By The Sea and RSVP Weddings & Events. With a successful event behind them, the team at Pure 7 Studios is thankful for everyone who helped change the life of a child, one smile at a time.
“I enjoyed using my talents to give back to those in need,” said Ryan Manthey, owner of Pure 7 Studios.
