SINFONIA GULF COAST ANNOUNCES CALL FOR STUDENT MUSICIANS TO JOIN SINFONIA GULF COAST YOUTH ORCHESTRA PROGRAMS

Miramar Beach, FL (Jan. 22, 2018) — The Sinfonia Youth Orchestra program is the premier training orchestra in Northwest Florida and consists of more than 50 students who participate in a variety of ensembles that perform throughout the school year in one of two ensembles: The Sinfonietta Strings or the Sinfonia Youth Orchestra.

Though the semester has started it is not too late to join.

Sinfonietta String’s membership is open to developing string players, with at least two years of lessons, or recommendations from their music teachers. Sinfonietta Strings is a training program to prepare the musicians to move up to the full orchestra. Weekly rehearsals are held in the Band Room of Choctawhatchee High School on Racetrack Road in Fort Walton Beach.

The Sinfonia Youth Orchestra Programs — under the leadership of Music Director Liz Aylor — has a full orchestra of more than 40 talented young musicians ranging in age from 6th to 12th Grade. Advanced String, Woodwind, Brass and Percussionists make up the core of the Orchestra. Membership is open to any qualified musician. Weekly rehearsals for the Sinfonia Youth Orchestra will are held in the Band Room at Choctawhatchee High School on Racetrack Road in Fort Walton Beach.

Participation in either youth group requires a membership fee of $125 for the Spring term. The Sinfonietta Strings and Sinfonia Youth Orchestra perform annual Fall and Spring concerts at the Grace Lutheran Church in Destin. The Sinfonia Youth Orchestra program is sponsored by Sinfonia Gulf Coast — which was founded in 2005 on Florida’s Northwest Gulf Coast with the mission of redefining the symphony experience — and is supported by individual contributions.
