Panama City Creative Con Less than Two Weeks Away Creative Con focuses on education and exploring creative career paths with a fun filled day exploring sequential art and geek culture.  Calling all Nerds

PANAMA CITY, Fla.- July  2015- The 6th Annual Panama City Creative Con is less than two weeks away. The story lines this year are as big as the cast of characters themselves. There’s so much to do and see we are going to try our best to fit it all in this news release.

Guests – We have more than 65 with two featured guests!  Hollywood actor/stuntman Michael Papajohn will be at the event with a special talk, “From GCSC to Hollywood: An Afternoon with Michael Papajohn”, at 1:00 p.m. in the Amelia G. Tapper Center for the Arts. Papajohn has been featured in films such as Spider-Man, Jurassic World and Selma. This event is presented by the Division of Visual and Performing Arts at GCSC. We are also pleased to announce that Eisner, Inkpot and Bram Stroker Award-Winning Artist and Creator Dave Dorman will be at Creative Con with some exciting announcements to share with fans about his series, THE WASTED LANDS. Dorman was voted the #1 Star Wars Artist of All Time by fans, but has also worked on everything from Captain America to Batman to G.I. Joe. Dorman earned the Lifetime Achievement Award from San Diego Comic-Con. We have 65 total creatives and vendors in all including; cartoonist and writer Teresa Roberts Logan, color artist K. Michael Russell, actor/director/comic artist Nathan Smith, Newsarama’s Chris Arrant and Hangar 18 Props & the Tardis. Cosplay- Contest, art show and panels!
Of course no Con is complete without costumes. Whether you want to admire someone’s works of art, learn how to create your own or show off what you have put together, this is the Con for you. We are starting and ending this year’s event with costuming. Panama City Creative Con begins with SUIT UP! Friday, July 31 at 6:00 p.m. at the Amelia G. Tapper Center for the Arts. The gallery exhibit features the works of Panama City Beach-based costumer maker and cosplayer Brian Parsley, featuring graphic styling by the Public Eye. Brian has been making costumes for more than 30 years with his works appearing in Wizard Magazine, Marvel.com and Huffington Post. The exhibit will also be open on Saturday during the Con. In addition we have cosplay professionals and groups that will have tables; C&C Cosplay, Drocelle Cosplay, Eitanya Designs, Buurenaar Verda Clan of the Mandalorian Mercs Costume Club and 501st Legion Florida Garrison Parjai Squad all participating in Creative Con. Related panels include: “Polishing the Look” with Jessica St. Hill, “+1 to Armor Crafting”’ presented by Eltanya Designs and “Fx, Makeup and Props” by C&C Cosplay. Creative Con will culminate with the General Division Costume Contest starting at 6:00 p.m. in the Amelia G. Tapper Center for the Arts building. Pre-judging will begin at 4:30 pm. Registration closes out at 4:00 p.m. The Junior Division Costume Contest registration ends at 3:00 p.m. with the contest at 3:30 p.m. There will be prizes for the winners in both divisions. Education- Learning and exploring creative careers is what sets Creative Con apart! Have you ever dreamed of a career or passion project in sequential art, cosplay or writing? Are you an educator? If you answered yes, we have a panel for you. We have 15 discussions scheduled throughout the day during Creative Con. Topics include; How to Break into Comics with Chris Arrant of Newsarama, Top Ten Ways to Improve Your Story Right Now by Janeen O’Kerry and Graphic Novels in the Library and the Classroom presented by Kat Kan to name a few.

Not only does Panama City Creative Con foster career development for aspiring artists and creatives, it is purposed to encourage young people to pursue their passions and develop the valuable tools they already have in their love for the creative realms.
